SHEIN x BECCI Summer 2021 Collection
Inspired from the continuation of my university final degree work, my first ever Summer Ready to Wear Collection incorporates vibrant prints with feminine silhouettes and structured blazers. Print is key to this collection, and is something I am very passionate about, I love to paint and draw, so my prints were originally formed from alcohol ink paintings I did by hand. These were then edited onto photoshop, layered with digital illustrations I did of flowers and with primary images I took. I used Japanese text as well, using words like "ikigai", meaning to find your passion in life and to discover what motivates you. I thought words like these were really beautiful, as I could subtly add these messages over the clothes to remind people about finding their own happiness and passions in life. My use of alcohol ink paintings to begin with, was initially inspired by my visit to Kew Gardens and seeing the beautiful glass sculptures. I felt that the alcohol inks were a great media to use in response to the translucent glass pieces, and I could really capture different opacities and translucencies in these paintings. Combining my prints with very feminine silhouettes I started to design the collection, and created bright and colourful pieces to wear for the Summer.
