Recently I received the NYX cream highlight and contour palette as part of the Hashtag blogger ambassador programme, and I was very excited to try out this contour kit!
Personally I sometimes find contour quite difficult to do, especially if you start comparing it to that of Kim K. However with the NYX palette, they have kept it simple but effective. The shade was perfect for me, and it works as an excellent base for contouring. Normally I use powdered bronzer and powdered highlighter, so initially I was almost unsure of how to apply the cream contour colours. I was also a little worried about making the contour blend in evenly with my skin as I am not used to it, and my skin is quite dry. However I found that by using a brush the contour applied really well, and I could achieve a fairly natural look with it too. The second part in the palette is called shimmer, and this was really easy to apply. The shimmer was great at placing on the nose area and just above the top lip; as well as slightly underneath the arc of my eyebrows. The third part of the palette called highlight, was applied a little bit under my eyes to conceal dark circles, and to even out my skin tone in areas, help hide any breakouts/ spots, and to finally help to shape my eyebrows. Using a cotton bud I applied a little of the highlight around my eyebrows to help them appear sharper. This colour was good as although the name highlighter suggests something with shimmery tones in, it is actually matte so works perfectly!
I would recommend this set to anyone who wants to spice up their contouring and try something new, as I feel cream contours are becoming more and more popular in the beauty industry. For me, I apply this contour subtly, and add my own other powdered bronzer on top if I want a 'going out' look. This contour kit is compact, easy to use, and great for using on the go!
